Hi. My name is Dusty. And I’m an addict.

Why do I do this to myself? I have plenty of shows to watch. I don’t need to add another to it. But, alas, another has been added. What show? A fun little family show called Prison Break. Yes, yes, I am addicted. Why do I subject myself to this? Why not wait until the summer? I don’t know. Do yourself a favor. If you haven’t started watching this show yet, don’t start. You will become an addict as well.

Okay, we’ve all seen the emails or the ads on hundreds of sites trying to give away free stuff for iPods to Xboxes and everything in between. Well, I have it on pretty good authority that this actually works. I was listening to a podcast yesterday of a couple of respectable guys and they were talking about this. One of the guys just got a new, free Apple Powerbook. Well, “free” might not be the best word. More like “extremely reduced price.” Cause, come on, we all know that nothing is free. He plugged a guy’s site that showed him how to do this. So I went to it and everything looks legit. So, I will pass it on to you guys. JoshClark.com. Well, I looked it over and thought, “What the heck. I’ll give it a try.” Well, I picked a site that was recommended and got a little too excited. I decided to go for the Plasma TV. I should have known better than to do that. Long story short, I should have gone through all of the offers first. Well, I’m gonna change mine to the Xbox 360. Lot less stuff you have to do. Evidently, the more expensive the gift, the more offers you have to complete. So, I’ll keep you update on the progress of this.

I ran the Bank of the Ozarks – Run for Their Lives 5K Saturday. It was a pretty fun race. I’m still not a fan of running. I only do it because it is my weakest event in triathlons. And the only way that I will continue to run is to sign up for 5Ks. Since my usual run now is 3 miles, a 5K is right up my alley. The race was a benefit for a lot of inner city ministries, one of them being Young Life. A friend of mine, AJ Green, is the Area Director of the Little Rock Young Life and he told me about this race and I thought it would be a lot of fun. And boy was it! I have to say that I am growing tired of running in Little Rock though. Too many dang hills. I even posted my fastest 5K time: 27:19. That may not be fast for a lot of you folks out there, but for a fat guy like me, that’s moving pretty quick. Which brings me to another neat thing about the race: they had a restaurant cater breakfast after the race. How awesome is that? You run 3.1 miles and then get in line for eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and fruit. That’s my kind of race!!! All in all, it was a lot of fun and I finished 211 out of 656 in the guys category and 22 out of 46 in the Men’s 30-34 age group. Can’t wait to do it again next year! Coming up is a 5K in Beebe and a couple in Searcy before my first tri in June. I always wanted to run a 5K, but I never thought I would make it a weekly habit. Crazy.

Also, I still haven’t written my post about the ApologetiX concert I went to. Stay tuned for that.

Well, I did it! I finished my first Half Marathon Relay! It was a beautiful day, but it was freezing. By the end of the run, I was stripped down to a short sleeved shirt, but after the finish, I was freezing again. It probably took me a mile to feel my feet. Anyway, all is well. I’m just a little sore this morning. My friend Matt (relay partner) ended up running the whole distance. Instead of doing the relay and stopping when he handed off to me, he kept going the full 13.1 miles of the Half Marathon. CRAZY!!!! I hope he feels okay today and he’s not hurting too much. The most he ran up to the event was about 6.5 miles. Well, now my sights are set on triathlons. I probably won’t do the Olympic distance tri at Memphis in May, but may look for an Olympic later on in the year. Fun race. Next year I will have to do the Half Marathon!

Well, the day is almost upon us. Matt and I are doing the Little Rock Marathon: Half Marathon Relay on Sunday. Both of us have to run about 6.5 miles. Shouldn’t be too bad. We both can run that and have done so before. The only thing that scares me is the amount of hills that are supposed to be on the course. Everyone tells me that the first leg of the relay isn’t that bad because you run a few miles in NLR and then down by the River Market. The 2nd leg starts to get hilly. So, I just hope I can keep up a decent pace while fighting the hills. Anyway, keep us in your prayers.
