If you’ve read my blog in the past, you know that I do online offers for free* stuff. The reason I use the *, is because, yes, you have minimal costs involved, but when you get a $900 check for spending $43, that’s free enough for me. I’ve been working on getting a Mac Mini for the last couple of months. Well, as I was about to leave for work last night, I noticed a package by the front door. This is what I found:

Mac Mini

Granted, it wasn’t sitting out there like that. It was nicely packaged. I was absolutely giddy. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve always wanted a Mac. And since I only paid $40 for it, that makes it all the better. Actually, it’s not really mine anymore. Amy has been wanting a computer for all of her hobbies. So, here ya go, sweetie.

You may be asking yourself, “How the heck can you actually get a Mac Mini for $40?” Very easily, my friend. I learned everything I know from a guy named Josh Clark. Go to his site and join his forum. You will be able to talk to a lot of people that have been doing this for quite a while. Josh finds the offers that are legit, because, let’s face it, there are a lot of scams out there. He reviews them and tells you which ones he endorses. The mods on the forum are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the “freebie” industry.

Unfortunately, this particular offer has expired. So, jaunt on over to joshclark.com and read over his “Free Stuff” section.

Right now, I’m working on a few different things:

iPhone
$400 Gift Card
Xbox 360 Elite

These links will take you to a site that will let you pick either a gift or cash. Great stuff!!! You can have a referral based account or a points based account. I’m going to fast. Just jump over to Josh Clark and do a little research.

IMPORTANT: If you decide to do something like this, you need to be organized! If not, you may end up spending way more than you wanted. Also, let me know if you want to try this out. I’ve got a spreadsheet that I got from Josh Clark that will help you keep track of all of the offers you do!

Well, I did another 5K this past weekend. No, I didn’t get first place again…I got second. And, to top it off, there were more than 2 people in the division. There were 5. HA! So, my 2nd place finish feels a lot better than my previous 1st place finish. Any way, it was a good race. Very well organized and sponsored. Yarnell’s was a sponsor. Always good when an ice cream company sponsors an event. I had 2 or 3 ice cream sandwiches. Good stuff. Anyway, my friends Justin and Jon ran this one, too. Once again, they came in 1st and 2nd in their division, and 6th and 9th overall for male runners.

It was a really neat run for me because when we started, I didn’t really have anyone to pace myself off of. I only knew that I didn’t want the 4th grader running beside me to beat me. Next thing I know, we hit the 1st mile marker and the time was 8:10. Holy crap! I almost just ran an 8 minute mile! I start thinking, “Wow! That’s fast for me. I probably need to slow down…. Wait a minute! What am I, crazy? Keep going! That 4th grader is right on your heels!” So, I ended up finishing with a 27:40. That averaged about a 8:55 mile. I was pretty psyched that I came in faster than the weekend before.

Anyway, here’s the route:

By the way, I had considered running the 10K. I’m glad I didn’t. The guy that won the Little Rock Marathon last year ran the 10K and easily won. 6.2 miles in like 36 minutes. Yeah, he should be glad I didn’t run it either. He might still be waiting for me at the finish line so he could get his trophy and Health Corp membership.

That was the only weird thing about the race. The prizes for the top finishers in the races were Health Corp memberships. I’m thinking, “Okay, if they just ran 3 to 6 miles in the time that they did, they don’t need a membership to Health Corp. Give that to the person that came in last. They obviously need it more.”

Well, last weekend I ran the annual Searcy Relay for Life 5K. The proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. It was a good course. I’m pretty used to it because it actually ran through my neighborhood. My friend Jon and I decided it would be a fun little run to do. He also invited his wife’s new brother-in-law, Justin. We had a pretty good time. I ended up running it in 28:16. I came in 1st in my division! Seriously. I’m looking at the trophy on my desk as I type. Yep, I had a guy on my tail the whole time, but he couldn’t take me.

Here’s the course:

Tomorrow, I’m planning on running the Searcy MADD Dash 5K. I had thought about doing the 10K but decided not to. I think Jon may run with me tomorrow, too. Well, I say run with me, but what I mean is go to the race with me, run the first half mile together, then watch him ease into the distance. He’s just too fast for me. Which is great. I don’t want to hold anyone back. My thoughts are, “Hey, we can train everyday together and run together, but when it comes to race time, you gotta run your own race. Don’t let me be the one holding you back and giving you an excuse not to push yourself.”

Also, I hope tomorrow’s race has more than 1 person in my division. The trophy just isn’t the same when you know that you got 1st place and last place at the same time.
